2022.01.26 02:25 TheNormalHumanBeing_ People are morally obliged to work for the environment if they believe without intervention great suffering awaits humanity and all earth life.

If people believe that the current trajectory humanity has set for the environment will cause death, starvation drought and suffering, these people are morally obliged to help the environment any way they can. Things like Consuming less, pursue a career in environmental management, volunteer work, implementing permaculture/gardening ideology into there lifestyle, and overall making it a life goal to live with a positive environmental impact.

2022.01.26 02:25 king_of_hate2 Why I think Book of Boba Fett is actually great!

I know there's a lot of people who love the series as I do but I also feel it's getting a lot of unnecessary hate, which Boba Fett in general in the past few years has had quite a few fans who hate the character simply for the fact he was supposed to be be an unimportant character bur became a fan favorite. I might be a bit biased but I've always been a huge fan of the character.
First I'd like to argue, this is definitely Boba Fett we see in the show. The only reason people say it's not is because for once we're no seeing him just simply being in fighting mode. Boba in this show is trying to build his own empire from the ground up, obviously no one is going to want to work with someone who used to be the guy they payed to take out the trash. It would basically be like if the janitor of a company randomly asserts himself as the boss and somehow becomes the boss, no one would want to work with him at first, he'd have to get them on their side. Boba Fett is trying to get more people on his side, if they're too afraid of him they're not gonna want to work with him. This is why his attitude is different. In The Mandalorian season 2 he's primarily focused on completing the task of helping Din Djarin get back Grogu as any job Boba does he tries to be as professional as possible.
This time he's trying to be as professional as possible as a Daimyo, meaning he has to use charisma to get people on his side. Boba Fett is making his own empire for two reason. One being that he sees creating this criminal empire as creating a family/people that he can feel belonged to once again due to the fact that most of the people he's considered family have all perished. The first time being when he saw his father die, and the fact that Aura Sing basically abandoned him during Clone Wars, leaving him to spend time in prison and basically be raised by criminals and other bounty hunters, and then the tribe of Tuskens that he discovered were killed, he felt he finally feel like he belonged and wasn't alone, which loneliness is something he's had to deal with for a long time. The other reason is revenge, Boba Fett has always wanted revenge and I think part of him building this Empire is his plan for revenge, he killed Bib Fortuna because of the fact that a bounty was placed on him during the War of the Bountt Hunters comic, and he's building this crime empire up because he's going to destroy the Pikes for most likely being responsible for the death of his Tusken tribe. The events from War of the Bounty Hunters and falling into the Sarlacc is what made him done with working for others and why he now wants to call the shots. He's going to win the respect of the other crime bosses after he defeats the Pikes. Now I'm not certain what is after that but I definitely think Boba has more ulterior motives for this.
The reason we also don't see him wearing his helmet all the time and talking more then we used to is for the same reasons I stated earlier about his attitude. He's not a Bounty Hunter anymore and isn't constantly looking for his next job, and due to the fact he'd now taken up a leadership position, showing his face shows confidence and charisma, something a good leader needs. The reason he's talking more is because he has to convince more people to join his empire and to prove himself as a daimyo to more people, he wouldn't be very convincing if he didn't talk much during these deals and negotiations. It's also not uncommon as you think for Boba Fett to talk quite a bit, in both Clone Wars and War of the Bounty Hunters he talks quite a lot and says quite a few one liners, even in Legends he sometimes talked quite a bit, I think it depends on the scenario for him. Taking up a leadership position is also not out of character either as he was once leading his team of Bounty Hunters as a teen in Clone Wars and he's learned a lot since then as his arrogance and bossiness imo is partially what caused the job he did with Vebtress to go south, if he was more reasonable, the job mightve went as planned. He also became the ruler of Mandalore in Legends, so it's not really a new thing.
I'd also like to point out that the whole complaint about the aesthetics imo is ridiculous. Cyber stuff isn't new to Star Wars, there was literally a Terminator-like bounty hunter Biba has worked with based Valance who's pretty much half machine, Vader is literally half man and half robot, Luke has a robotic hand, droids literally exist basically everywhere in Star Wars. It's not really a big deal there's a culture of people in Star Wars interest in cybernetic implants and stuff.
Now I think we'll be getting some reallt cool fight scenes in the last couple of episodes since Boba plans to battle the Pikes.
TLDR: Boba Fett is not out of character at all, he's just changing his attitude and approach because he's decided to taken up a leadership position to build his own empire out of revenge. Taking up a leadership position and seeking revenge aren't new things to his character.

2022.01.26 02:25 MaximusCapacitance The general structure of an ayahuasca trip?

I have now had four sittings with Ayahuasca within the course of a month. From these four experiences I have found certain constants in the trip. I find that it happens in distinctive stages with specific topics in a certain order. Additionally there are certain hallucinations that I experience recurrently.
While each sitting (or standing) with Ayahuasca had a general pattern and common themes/elements, there were differences in the set and setting of each trip that changed the specific contents within the general structure of the experience. The first trip was high dose, alone, at night, in nature, with no preparation, and my first true psychedelic experience ever. Needless to say it shocked me in a way subsequent trips did not. The second was lower dose, at night, in nature, and around others. The third and fourth were moderate doses, during the day, and back to back two days in a way with the most recent being this morning. I was also actively waking around including in public in the two most recent trips. With these differences in mind, I can now get into the many similarities. The structure I've identified tends to come in stages, so I will try my best to describe them in order.
Onset- For me the telltale sign that the Ayahuasca has began to kick in is the sound that is a cross between a weed whacker and a fly. It's a resonant, organic frequency almost. I have not had a single ayahuasca trip without this sound. I start to feel lightheaded, like every cell in my body is vibrating. I feel energy coursing through me and a general feeling of "rising". On my first trip the onset and especially that sound scared me, but I have came to accept that sound for what it is- the frequency of the universe itself. If existence had a motor that's the sound of it going.
The "Internal" Stage (micro): Once it onsets it isn't long before I can shut my eyes and behold the very organic and smooth ayahuasca visuals. They usually have very intricate and complex geometry, with an almost humanoid shape sometimes. It can move around and spin and change in many permutations. At this stage they haven't reached their max intensity, however. I call the beginning of the trip internal because the thoughts and conversations with any "entity" I've had here usually focuses on the small picture; my individual mind, my psychology, my strengths and my weaknesses. Although not the most intense part, this can often be the most difficult part, and on my first ayahuasca trip in particular I was bombarded by self-criticism to the point of terror and dysphoria. However, this is the part you really can learn from and you need to work through it to earn the privelige of the next stage. Speaking of which....
The "External" Stage (macro): As the trip peaks, the thoughts I experience often drift away from myself and towards the universe as a whole until I am having revelations and insights about all of existence and the entire universe. This is accompanied by more transcendent visuals. On my first trip, I essentially broke through at this point. This is where you get knowledge on the big picture and the nature of all of this as a whole. It's the most euphoric part, where a lot of the reputed connectedness and transcendental aspects of Ayahausca really show. But ultimately, you need to apply the insights of the first stage to really approach the issues that the second stage brings up. You can't fix the world or talk on it until you fix yourself.
The Comedown- This part has always been nice for me. Because it has not fully worn off I still have the thinking power to really sit on the ideas during the main trip. I like to use this time to journal everything and put it to writing so that I can integrate these ideas when off of Ayahausca. And despite the intensity of the main trip, this part has always been very smooth and friendly and clear-headed.
The Afterglow- I've only ever had mescaline and psilocybin but Ayahuasca has the best afterglow I've had on anything. It does not leave you high and dry. It is a pretty energetic almost stimulant like feeling and can last days.
These are my own experiences and not everybody may get this pattern, but I'm interested to know if anybody else has trips that follow this. Please feel free to give your input.

2022.01.26 02:25 jadecam Anyone have any bad or ineffective experiences?

I’m seeing mostly positive accounts of TMS and the doctor I consulted with seemed pretty damn certain it would work for most people but I can help being skeptical. Wondering if anyone has had bad side effects or worse/no effects? Also, my treatments would be a 45 min drive each way so wondering if people have felt off or unable to drive after sessions?

Saw a guy flipping a coin at work the other day and asked him what it was. Turned out to be a 1922 Peace dollar so we got chatting about coins and silver and I showed him my ASE pocket piece. This exchange brought another coworker over and we all chatted about some of the stuff we've collected or inherited over the years. Definitely cool to have some fellow stackers at work.
